Volunteer coordinator(s) needed for Mary West Competition

posted May 31, 2019, 5:52 PM by Michael Watson   [ updated May 31, 2019, 5:53 PM ]

MNSOTA is looking for a team of volunteers to coordinate the Mary West Solo Competition this fall. Faith Farr serves as Board Liaison.

Helper 1 would be responsible for confirming prizes (requiring a few phone calls in the spring), and then processing applications, setting the audition schedule, and communicating the audition results to students and teachers and prize donors (requiring work from late September through early November).

Helper 2 would be responsible for running the Winners Recital (usually early November) — get helpers to make sure students get to the green room on time, set up the reception etc. One person could do both jobs.

Please contact Faith Farr with questions or to volunteer.

To encourage new student memberships, MNSOTA will pay 50% of the first year's State/National dues.

There are two ways to access this special subsidy.

1) Students should mail to the MNSOTA membership coordinator:

  • Their completed ASTA application form.
  • Copy of their current Student ID
  • A check for 50% of the dues, made out to ASTA.  The membership coordinator will forward the application, your check, and the remaining amount to ASTA.

2) Pay the full amount of the ASTA dues.  Send a copy of the confirmation email to the MNSOTA Membership Coordinator, and MNSOTA will reimburse you for 50% of your first year's dues.
