Fall String Camp for Grades 6-8
YMCA Camp St. Croix, Hudson, WI
October 23-25, 2009

General Information
Fall String Camp, for students in grades 6–8, is held at Camp St. Croix in Hudson. Students are placed into one of three ability grouped orchestras. During the three-day camp, students are involved in large group rehearsals, sectionals, supervised recreation, movie night and bingo. It is an exciting and fun-filled learning experience!

Usually the camp fills to capacity before the deadline, so please give the registration information to your students as soon as possible during the school year. Send your applications early, even one at a time as you receive them from students. As in past years, all teachers who send students must complete and send the 2-page Teacher Registration form on pages 19 and 20 in the handbook (or pages 4 and 5 in the document posted below). MNSOTA requires that teachers have the administrator's signature of approval on the second page of the Teacher Registration Form.

Students whose teacher has not completed both parts of the form will not be
eligible to attend the camp.
New: A MNSOTA member private studio teacher signature will be accepted if the student does not have a school orchestra program or MNSOTA member school orchestra teacher available for the application.

For more detailed information download the General Information Form and the Camp Map & Tentative Schedule (see below).

Teacher Participation
This camp is run on a volunteer basis to keep costs as low as possible for the students.  We have discovered the importance and fun in having the orchestra directors attend the camp to help chaperone their students, lead sectionals and help in rehearsals.  There are numerous incentives provided for teachers to participate. Please read the Teacher Registration Information for more details.

College Interns
College string students and mature high school students (age 18 or older) are needed to help guide and supervise the students.  Their duties include assisting with registration on the first day, assisting with rehearsals and recreational time, and supervising students during meals and in the dorms.  More details about expectations, duties and how to sign up can be found in the Chaperone/Intern Registration Information.
