Members of the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA) are the members of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA ) who reside in Minnesota. ASTA maintains a continuous membership plan. You must renew your national membership every year to remain on the MNSOTA mailing list. Members are notified by mail from the national office when their annual membership is due.

All members receive the American String Teacher magazine from the national office, and String Notes from our state editor. 

Teachers must be members of MNSOTA in order to have their students participate in any MNSOTA activity. You will find your membership number on the mailing label of your handbook and on the membership card you received from ASTA. 

Members and non-members are welcome at our teacher training events: August All State Workshop, the October Fall Clinic, and Pedagogy Talk Sessions.

As an added benefit of membership you can purchase discount instrument insurance from Merz Huber.  You can sign up for this benefit by completing the Insurance Form below.

Half-price student memberships
From August 1 through the October 31, 2007, MNSOTA will subsidize student memberships so that students pay only $20 for a full year of ASTA with NSOA and MNSOTA benefits including the national journal and our own String Notes. If you work with college students please encourage them to join our organization. Students should fill out the ASTA Registration Form, including date of birth and anticipated graduation date. Students should send their application form, valid proof of student status, and a check for $20 to MNSOTA, attn: Cassandra Herold, Membership Coordinator, cassandraherold@yahoo.com. Cassandra will forward the application form to ASTA headquarters with the full $40 payment.

Sign up for Memberships with the American String Teachers Association (ASTA)

Otherwise, you can download the Registration Form on our website, but please mail it directly to ASTA unless you are applying for a subsidized student membership.
