Mary West Solo Competition 2011

The Mary West Solo Competition is held annually in the fall for students of the violin, viola, cello, bass, harp and classical guitar. Participants must be MNSOTA members or students of MNSOTA members. Participants must live in Minnesota or study in Minnesota. Students in Elementary Division (age 11 and under ) and Intermediate Division (age 12 to 14) prepare one piece. Junior Division (age 15 to 18) and Senior Division (age 19 through 25) students prepare two pieces in contrasting styles by different composers. Determine student's age as of March 20, 2012, and students whose birthday is March 20 should compete in the younger of the two categories.

The Mary West Solo Competition Recital will be held in October/November, at the Lake Harriet United Methodist Church.  The address is 4901 Chowen Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN (near 50th and France), 7:00 pm.

Recital performers will be announced after the competition.

Division winners get a $75 gift certificate from the Givens Violin Shop, the Grand Prize Winner receives $250 in cash from Givens Violins and plays a movement from a concerto with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, April 1, 2012, 3:00 pm
