String Notes
, the journal of MNSOTA is published three times a year with target publication dates of September 30, January 1 and April 1. The 36-page magazine contains original pedagogy articles submitted by our membership and reports on MNSOTA activities. Articles, announcements and advertisements are always welcome. The submission deadline is six weeks before publication (July 15, November 15, February 15). 

String Notes is sent to all MNSOTA members. Subscriptions are available to non-Minnesota residents for a fee.

Download below our list of 2020 Teacher Training opportunities in our 5-state region. We particularly encourage you to attend MNSOTA's All-State Teacher Workshop at the College of St. Benedict.

Note that the lists were compiled in February/March 2020, before Covid-19 was widespread in our area. The expecation is that all camps will be following the guidance from the CDC as well as national and local leaders in their decision to possibly cancel, reschedule or hold their event as planned. Please check with each organization to find out how they will proceed with their event this summer.


As of early June, we have been told:

  • Stringwood has been rescheduled for August 9-23, 2020 -- same location, same faculty. Apply by June 30 here
  • Fiddle Pal Camp will happen Online June 15-19 and August 17-21. More info here.
  • Athena Music Camp for Girls will hold a Virtual Academy June 22-25. More info here.
  • Paul Rolland Workshop has been rescheduled as a FREE Paul Rolland Seminar Sat June 27, 10:00-11:30 a.m. More info here.
